The Indomitable Spirit of Youth

Peanuts gets it in one! I guess there’s something about the kind of spirit it takes to smile through a verbal bashing given to you by a teacher half your size, and roundabout the same age as you.. Why can’t a student studying Business Administration answer a simple question of what he’s doing? I enjoy having a good time as much as the next person if not more, but I don’t understand or condone having fun at the cost of an education. Granted that you’re not studying at an institution that is quite there, but where professional education is concerned I believe in the concept of self study and the ability to be responsible for what you do. I can understand the issues of materialism in our education sector these days which has affected the availibility of dedicated teachers but they are still there. It is not enough to simply lay the blame on the shoulders of the administration and teaching staff for the failure of providing quality graduates.
I was a student not so long ago and am again aspiring to enroll in a post-graduate program and I just cannot understand and justify the extent of irresponsibility that so manay students that I have seen express. If nothing else, what happened to that fear we had about facing our parents who are literally paying hundreds of thousands a year on us, with even the remotest whisper that we may not be doing well in school?
That aside, how does a self-respecting, responsible individual go about expecting, outright that an invigilator will assist him/her in the exam by seating them behind or in front of one of the better students so they can help solve a paper because they thought they’d study the night before the exam and then didn’t? And even if they didn’t, who gives a DAMN?
Bootis and codes and secret sign languages? An examination hall is beginning to resemble an intrigue… Two tragedies strike me about this: one, the ones who put in the least effort throughout the session are the ones who come up with these gems and secondly, even if they somehow manage to convert their “information” collected from various sources into answers, they still fail… And in a sense far, far deeper than just an exam at a private university.
Morality, rights, wrongs, effort and hardwork have become just random words in our lives. None of understand what they mean and so realistically we cannot be expected to understand the burden of responsibility that these phrases lay on our shoulders… If I could just do this somehow…
